No Use Flying. I just love the fall.

Lost causes turn you on,

So I’m the perfect one.

Your eyes say it’s okay now,

I swore I’d never give,

But your cameras were well hid.

So now I’ve got to pay now.

And the memories are mostly instamatic

What’s left of me is left to you.

And the battleships are circling and waiting for your call

No use flying

I just love the fall.

Well your fingers leave no prints

With your fine intelligence.

There’s no stopping what you’ve started

I hope for saving grace,

But I know it’s all too late.

Can you tell me where my heart is

My heart is, just a…

Memory, it’s mostly instamatic

What’s left of me is left to you.

And the battleships are circling and waiting for your call

No use flying

I just love the fall.

I really love the fall.

Now you’re gonna run. So go on…

The memories are mostly Instamatic

What’s left of me belongs to you…

I was first introduced to Vertical Horizon via Gary Allen’s cover of their song, The Best I’ve Ever Had. I fell in love with that song and then never heard from them again until 2012. That was when I came across the video embedded above featuring The Professor tracking drum parts for a Vertical Horizon song.

How Vertical Horizon got to a point in their lives where Pratt himself would do them the honor of playing on their track, I do not know. But I love this song and, obviously, the drums are what do it for me. It almost moves me to tears when I hear it. The thing I love most about Peart is that his drumming is melodic. He gives just as much thought as any pianist or guitarist or vocalist gives to their parts in a song.

I could go on, but I won’t. I just love this song. Enjoy.
